Yes — Padel Chippenham is a short drive away and is a convenient indoor padel club for players in Corsham, Calne, Melksham, Bath and across north Wiltshire. We're in the centre of Chippenham at Emery Gate Shopping Centre, open daily from 6am to 10pm.

At Padel Chippenham, a court costs from £16 per hour off-peak on weekdays (6am–4pm) — about £4 per player in a group of four. Weekend off-peak is £24–£28 per hour (£6–£7 per player). Peak (4pm–10pm) is £36 per hour, about £9 per player, every day. Members pay less.

Yes. Padel is one of the most age-friendly racket sports: the court is smaller than a tennis court, the serve is underarm and the glass walls keep rallies going, so it's gentle on the body and easy to pick up at any age. We welcome all ages at Padel Chippenham, and our Platinum membership is built around off-peak daytime play that suits retirees and anyone with flexible hours.

The golden rule in padel is that the serve must be underarm and bounce once on your side before you hit it, with contact at or below waist height. In a rally, the ball must bounce on the floor before it hits the glass — you can then play it off the walls. These simple rules make padel much easier to pick up than tennis, which is why beginners are very welcome at Padel Chippenham.

Both are quick to learn and great fun. Pickleball has a slightly gentler learning curve, while padel adds the glass walls, which are fun to master — but padel is still very beginner-friendly and most people are rallying in their first session. You can try it for yourself at Padel Chippenham, where beginners are welcome.

Indoor padel courts are purpose-built with glass walls and specialist cushioned surfaces, so court hire reflects that investment — but it needn't be expensive per person. At Padel Chippenham, weekday off-peak courts start at £16 per hour, which is about £4 per player across a group of four, and members pay less again.

Padel courts generally aren't free to hire, as they're specialist indoor facilities. The most affordable way to play at Padel Chippenham is weekday off-peak, which works out at about £4 per player in a group of four. Parking is free, though — you get up to 3 hours free in the Euro Car Park.
